Concetta attempts to sabotage Ernie and Bert’s soap Opera House

Concetta and Mel begin by requesting a photo of the Opera House.

They lay out a base for their model using brown soap bars. Concetta then abruptly starts smashing a bar of soap onto a sharp object, as Mel watches on in disbelief.

When Concetta looks at the available soap and complains that there’s no white soap available, Mel suggests that they use their imagination. They initially try to build upwards, but quickly abandon the idea and go flat instead.

Concetta repeatedly manages to push their efforts onto the floor, leading Mel to attempt to protect the sails of their structure by shielding them with her arms. Concetta then appears to become preoccupied by the idea that the other team will have discovered a secret technique for their construction.

With 5 minutes and 45 seconds left, two sail-like shapes have been constructed on the table. Concetta frantically moves bars around, while Mel urges her to stop and compare the models. Concetta then shoves the soap off the table again. Frustrated, Mel states that she’s lost trust in a “certain young lady” and yells “Stop pushing things on the floor!”.

In the studio, Tom Gleeson repeats his view that both teams’ efforts were dreadful. He adds that Concetta and Mel looked like they were building two completely different structures. When Mel gives Concetta the chance to speak, she declines.

After a clip of Concetta receiving her secret sabotage task brief is then shown, Tom Gleeson asks whether “Bert” had noticed what “Ernie” was doing. Mel stammers, but claims that she’d had no idea.

Additional footage of Concetta’s sabotage is then shown, revealing her stabbing soap, mixing up bars, and destroying Mel’s work. As the task ends, Mel suddenly realises what’s going on and says “It’s a trick task.” Mel declares that it was Concetta’s job to sabotage, and hers to spot it.

In the studio, Concetta responds “You idiot. You stupid bitch!”, and then Mel launches into a rambling defence, suggesting the possible involvement of special effects and AI, and coercion in what had just been shown on screen.

Because Mel had clearly spotted Concetta’s sabotage, the team is disqualified.
