Pete’s big and bold costume

After reading the task brief, Pete wonders aloud what ‘big’ means — is it ‘big and bold’, or just large in size?
He struts out onto the red carpet wearing a white skirt with brown shapes, a white furry mat draped in front and secured with green tape, and a bright top covered in multicoloured circles. A yellow cape flows behind him. He completes the look with a long brown wig, a red headband, and dark goggles. His shoulders appear unusually square.
He describes the outfit as “a bit Berlin in the ‘80s, a bit Paris in the 17th century, a bit New York in the ‘40s, and a bit... Luxembourg in the ‘90s.” When Tom Cashman asks which part reflects New York in the ‘40s, Pete replies “If you don’t see it, you don’t see it, mate.” He insists he’s not there to explain fashion.
After strutting around in his outfit, Pete pauses and strokes himself sexily. He then leans on the plinth and asks Tom if he understands it now. He claims that some people live life and take risks — like he did today — and points out that he’d made choices, unlike Tom. After Tom apologises, Pete exits with his hands raised in peace signs, declaring “Fashion!”.
In the studio, Tom Gleeson asks if Pete was dressed like that when he left The Project, and whether the padded shoulders were intentional. Pete confirms that they were, although he then couldn’t figure out how to remove them. He claims that he wasn’t just designing — he was creating — and states that he’s proud of the attempt.
Tom Cashman notes that he’s never seen Concetta so excited, and she confirms that it was like Pete’s whole body type changed.
Tom Gleeson decides that Pete’s costume wasn’t big enough in size, and awards him 2 points for the costume. However, Pete also wins the bonus point for the best modelling, giving him a total of 3 points.
