Concetta’s confusing crocodile roleplay

After reading the task brief, Concetta declares that “This is what I’ve been trying to do the whole season”, and then jokes she’ll need 20 years to complete it. She then adds “Okay, let’s go through all the reasons you stink.”

Concetta decides that Tom Cashman would be a better man if he were more positive and energetic. Picking up a model crocodile head from a nearby shelf, she improvises a character named Branson, who she explains is a paranoid jokester looking for a job in the figurine industry. When Tom questions her on what Branson is paranoid about, Concetta replies “Being scammed.”

Placing the crocodile head in front of her face and adopting a gruff voice, Concetta says “We don’t have much time. I need this.” Tom then gives Branson a motivational pep talk, stating that he’s a great presence in any workplace, and has what it takes to make figurines. Concetta then shakes Tom’s hand, claiming that he’s a better man now because of her.

In the studio, Tom Gleeson is baffled and asks Concetta “What the fuck was that about?”. He says that most viewers likely had no idea what was happening — except perhaps for those living in her shared house, whom he implies were likely high.

Concetta explains that she’d wanted to reverse the dynamic by having Tom Cashman help someone else, instead of helping himself. As she describes the scene as a character piece in which she was a crocodile who’d wanted to break into the arts, Tom Gleeson mimes smoking a joint and sarcastically says that he now understands.

Tom Cashman revealed that Concetta had given him just one piece of advice during their 20-minute roleplay: to unbutton his jacket. Concetta states that this was to “loosen him up.”

Concetta earns just 1 point.
