Pete donates A$1,000 of Tom’s money to charity

After reading the task brief, Pete confidently declares that he knows how to make Tom Cashman a better man. Pulling out his phone, he asks Tom what his favourite charity is, and also requests his credit card details. When Tom asks whether Pete is genuinely trying to log in to his American Express account, Pete merely insists that he pick a charity.
Tom selects a women’s shelter charity, and Pete then instructs him to press the ‘donate’ button himself, so that it isn’t just Pete doing everything. After Tom complies, agreeing to donate A$1,000 to the shelter, Pete asks him if he feels like a better man. When Pete then suggests increasing the value of the donation to A$2,000, Tom shouts “No!” in protest.
Pete types a note into the donation form, stating “My name is Tom, and I want to be a better man.” With 7 minutes and 29 seconds remaining on the clock, Pete suggests donating more money, before making Tom an account for easier future donations.
In the studio, when Tom Gleeson asks if the donation had actually been made, Pete confirms that A$1,000 of Tom Cashman’s money had gone to the Fistula Foundation, which works throughout Africa. When asked whether he had reimbursed Tom, Pete responds that the task brief was to make Tom a better man — not himself. When he claims that he had also donated A$1,000 to the charity personally, Tom Cashman doubts this, noting that Pete hadn’t remembered the charity’s name. Pete promises that he’ll do it after the show.
Because Pete had made Tom donate money that he didn’t want to spend, he wins the task and earns 5 points.
