Kiti’s egg survives its descent
Here's a description of the contestant's attempt. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to illustrate it.
Kiti begins by wondering if she can make the egg fall more slowly by having it zigzag through the air.
In the root cellar, she finds a rope and a piece of white fabric. She also locates a small woven basket, to which she ties the strings from the fabric. Her final parachute consists of the white fabric, strings, and the small basket, with the egg nestled inside on a cleaning cloth.
When Kiti throws her egg from the middle window of the second floor’s three-windowed room, the parachute descends quickly and lands in a bush directly below. When Pilvi inspects the landing site, it turns out the egg has rolled out of the basket, but is still intact.
In the studio, Pilvi notes that Kiti parachute did not make much difference to the speed of the egg’s descent, but that Kiti did manage to keep her egg intact.
Since the eggs’ fall times were comparable across the board, Jaakko awards points based on dramatic flair. Kiti earns 1 point, plus a bonus point for her intact egg.
