Probably not Adrian’s first pole obstacle rodeo
Adrian decides to go with a pole that is 302cm long.
His first 10cm deduction occurs as he tries to get the pole into the study from the hallway, using the kitchen as a turning space. He loses another 10cm in the same position as he realises he has mis-planned his manoeuvre. He then loses a further 10cm towards the end of the manoeuvre, as the rear end catches the kitchen doorframe.
He struggles somewhat to get through the telephone box and the underneath Linda the cow, but manages not to incur any deductions at these obstacles.
He loses another 10cm while passing the pole through the tyres, but gets it through the mailbox with no issues at all.
Alex asks Adrian to confirm whether there were just the two strikes that he’d noticed. Before answering, Adrian asks whether they’ll be looking at ‘VAR’. After Alex confirms that they will, indeed, be checking the video footage, Adrian admits that there were actually four strikes.
Back in the studio, Greg suggests that Adrian looked like he had passed a window-cleaning pole through an obstacle course “multiple times” before, and “almost seemed weary”.
Alex confirms that Adrian’s pole struck other objects just four times, reducing his pole length to 262cm.
Adrian’s cautious pole length selection ultimately leads to him placing first overall in the task.
