Hugh pulls the plug

Here's a brief description of the contestant's attempt. Someone's probably working writing up more detail!

Hugh used a washing-up bowl to keep the basketball on the running machine, before pulling out the plug of one of the extensions, turning off the machine without touching it. He therefore kept the basketball on the running machine for 4 months, until a storm purportedly blew it off.
