Attempts

Here's a brief description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on writing up some additional detail, though!

  • Hugh used a washing-up bowl to keep the basketball on the running machine, before pulling out the plug of one of the extensions, turning off the machine without touching it. He therefore kept the basketball on the running machine for 4 months, until a storm purportedly blew it off.
  • Joe taped a stick to two buckets, which failed to stop the basketball from moving. He kept the basketball on the running machine for just 3.8 seconds.
  • Lolly put a bucket over the basketball and made a barrier out of bin liners, but did not hold onto the bucket for some reason. She kept the basketball on the running machine for just 15.8 seconds.
  • Mel batted the basketball with a shovel to try and keep it on the running machine. She kept the basketball on the running machine for just 9 seconds.
  • Noel piled sofa cushions and a welcome mat on the basketball, but failed to stop the basketball from moving. He kept the basketball on the running machine for just 3.75 seconds.
