Nina's purple 'encylopedia'
Nina shares with Tom Cashman that her favourite colour is purple, and that her fanciest word is 'encyclopaedia'. However, after reading the task brief, she instantly regrets choosing purple, calling it "a stupid colour".
She collects some purple items from the house, and stands by the ute while figuring out which ones could be used to represent which letters.
At one point, she is trying to remember which way around an 'L' goes, using a mnemonic that's normally used to remember which side is the left. Tom Cashman is quick to point out that this mnemonic requires you to already know which way round an 'L' goes, since it involves making an 'L' shape with your index finger and thumb.
She then gets distracted, while sorting through some buttons to find purple ones, by just how cute some of them are (in the studio, Tom Cashman shares that she spent 4.5 minutes on this).
She eventually remembers that the task is timed, and springs back into action.
She arranges her purple items across the bonnet of the ute, spelling the word in the American way: 'encyclopedia', which is accepted.
In the studio, Tom Cashman shares that Nina took 30 minutes and 29 seconds to spell her word correctly, securing herself second place.
