Maria orders waffles instead

Maria initially pretends that the stuffed owl is a hand puppet, and that it's whispering in her ear.

She reports that the owl thinks that her budget should be spent on snacks, rather than on equipment for the task, saying "Oh well. The owl says we should buy waffles instead."

While waiting for her waffles, Maria mentions that it would be stupid to try and revisit a second grade science project (foreshadowing a cut to Siri’s attempt in which Sisri does just that).

Maria is delighted when Olli returns to her with four trays of waffles with strawberry sauce, and then proceeds to simply throw her owl into the air, before leaving with her snacks.

It is later revealed that, without using any tools or devices, Maria had managed to throw her owl high enough to earn fourth place.
