Biography

Maria is a comedian, stand-up, internet celebrity, and actor who appeared as a contestant on the first two seasons of Kongen Befaler.

In 2013, she began her career under the pseudonym ‘Piateed’ on YouTube. Her videos included her playing various characters, as well as discussing topics that she considered to be important. In 2018, she won two Gullsnutten (Norwegian awards for Youtubers), for ‘Opinion leader of the year’, as well as the honorary title of ‘Youtuber of the year’.

In 2018, she made her TV debut as a contestant on the quiz programme Tidsbonanza on NRK1. This was followed up by her participation in the inaugural season of Kongen Befaler in 2019, before she returned as a contestant for the second season, at the request of Discovery.

Following her stint on Kongen Befaler, Maria hosted the series Voksensmerter (Adult Pain) on TVNorge in 2021. The show ran for two seasons, and included appearances from fellow Kongen Befaler contestants Magnus Devold, Martha Leivestad, and Martin Lepperød. The Kongen Befaler connections also included the show being produced by ConcordeTV - owned by the Ylvisåker brothers, who both appeared as contestants in season 1, and which even produced that first season.

In 2021, Maria participated in TV2’s musical talent competition Norges nye megahit (Norway’s New Megahit). She was eliminated in week 4 of the competition but was still nominated for a Humorprisen (Norwegian comedy prize) for ‘Funniest of the Year.’ She also participated on Alle mot alle (All Against All), on the same team as Magnus Devold.

In the summer of 2022, she was a contestant in the second season of GYM on NRK1, a programme hosted by fellow Kongen Befaler contestant Mia Hundvin.

Maria is slated to take part in season 15 of 71° nord - Norges tøffeste kjendis (71 Degrees North, Norway’s Toughest Celebrity), to be broadcast in late 2023.

Fun fact: Following their time together on season 2 of Kongen Befaler, Maria and Magnus Devold began dating, and they remain together, as of 2023.
