Jesper takes a drive

Immediately after reading the task brief, Jesper asks Mark for a set of car keys.

He then takes the toilet roll and leaves the bathroom with it.

Jesper and Mark start to drive away from the Stormester house and, while driving, have a conversation about looking at people’s homes, and debating at what point such a practice might be considered creepy or legally actionable.

Jesper states his intention to drive to Farum (20 kilometres northwest of Copenhagen), but admits that he’s not familiar with the roads near the Stormester house, and hopes that he isn’t “just driving circles around the house”.

He runs out of time before he can get onto the motorway, travelling 8.7 kilometres away from the house.

This is far enough to win the task but, in the studio, Jesper does not look particularly happy, and Mark reveals why: when Jesper removed the toilet roll from the bathroom, he’d left the entire holder behind.

Jesper is ready to defend himself, though, as he produces an empty toilet roll tube in the studio, insisting that the tube is what actually holds the toilet roll.

Lasse digs deep into the semantics of Jesper’s defence, admitting that the cardboard tube could be called a “toilet paper holder” (‘toiletpapirholderen’) or a “toilet paper roll” (‘toiletpapirrullen’), but that it could definitely not be called a “toilet roll holder” (‘toiletrulleholderen’), which is the term used in the task brief.

Jesper is therefore disqualified.
