Thomas takes a minor shortcut

Thomas picks up the locked box, notices the lock, and simply smashes the box against the table until the lock breaks off.

He then solves the jigsaw puzzle, and follows the clue to the book, and from there to the shed, and finally on to the taxidermy rooster and the Polaroid of the key under Mark’s shoe.

Thomas retrieves the key and frees Mark, then awkwardly hugs him.

He completes the task in 9 minutes and 56 seconds, earning second place.
