Melvin focuses on buying power

Melvin pours out all of the coins and, upon realising that they include many different currencies, asks Mark to help him pick out any pounds or euros.

When Mark asks why, Melvin replies that they are worth more.

Eventually, he realises that the task revolves around numeric – and not monetary – value, and so he starts searching the coin pile again.

The small dish stays afloat throughout Melvin’s entire attempt The numeric values on his coins add up to 788, so he earns fourth place.
