Dai takes Paul to the astral realm

Dai, wearing a teal dress over his normal outfit, leads Paul to a tree, next to which there are two cushions set up on the ground.

He tells Paul he’s going to go on quite a trip, leaving not only New Zealand but also the human realm.

They each sit cross-legged on a cushion, and Dai instructs Paul to focus on his breath, telling him that he’ll see him “at the point beyond space and time”.

The pair are then seen floating up into the sky, followed by a montage of tranquil clips from the grounds of the Taskmaster house, mixed with footage of Dai and Paul meditating. Throughout this montage, Dai is heard calmly singing the theme tune to the long-running New Zealand hospital soap opera Shortland Street.

When questioned on this choice by Jeremy in the studio, he says he did it because his teacher had done a similar thing when leading a class meditation when he was 12.

When Jeremy questions Dai’s choice to wear a teal dress, Dai explains that in the astral realm there is no gender or politics and that “everyone is just a teal dress” (thus coining the episode title).

He earns first place.
