Julian advocates for testing

Julian considers using the leaf-blower, but when Alex confirms that using it would mean that Julian would need to put his foot in the welly, Julian dismisses the idea.

He grabs the bellows and starts clumsily puffing air at the ball, making slow but steady progress. As he does, he asks Alex how much the tasks are tested prior to the contestants coming in. Alex replies that they aren’t tested, and rhetorically asks if the provided tools aren’t working well. Julian says that the task is hardly “gripping television”.

Julian then switches to using the hose, once again making slow but steady progress in moving the ball.

About halfway between the starting point and the closest fake hole, Julian examines the flag more closely, noticing that the hole appears to be covered up, and soon thereafter realising that there’s no actual hole at all.

Julian looks back at Alex and notices the real hole, exasperatedly examining it to make sure before moving the ball any further.

Julian continues to use the hose for the rest of his attempt.

In the studio, Alex reveals that after the task, Julian had told him that he has the charisma of the Conservative party politician Matt Hancock.

Julian sinks his shot in 3 minutes and 25 seconds, and wins the task.
