Task brief

The task brief is found stuck out of the top of a wellington boot in the middle of the lawn on the Wormsley Estate. The brief for the task is as follows:

Get the ball in the hole.

Nothing may touch the ball.

After you touch one tool, you may not touch another tool for one minute.

If you decide to touch the welly, you must only do so with your foot.

Fastest wins.

Your time starts now.

Task notes

  • This task takes place at Wormsley Estate, which is the setting of the location tasks throughout this series.
  • The Wellington boot is conjoined with a leaf-blower, and is stood next to a circular red ‘TM’ brand mat on the lawn, between two plinths.
  • On one plinth, there is a set of bellows, an uninflated balloon, and a coiled length of hosepipe.
  • On the other plinth, there is an electronic barbecue blower, a set of pan-pipes, a recorder, and a herald’s trumpet.
  • In front of all of this, an orange pickleball ball is laid on the lawn.
  • Nearby on the lawn, there are a series of small red flags, potentially denoting the location of the hole that the contestants are aiming for. However, all but one of them are fake holes consisting of black fabric circles pinned to the ground.
  • The real hole is immediately behind Alex and, at the very start of the task, he has the red flag for that hole up his trouser leg, completely concealing it. Alex only steps away from the hole and allows it to be seen once the contestants have started trying to blow the ball.
  • There also appear to be a few white flags scattered around the lawn, presumably to trick contestants in case they don’t ask Alex a question that would lead him to tell them that the hole was marked by a red flag.
  • This task combines elements from both the ‘Hit the golf ball into its hole’ task from Taskmaster NZ (i.e. the fake holes), and the ‘Make a portrait of a former contestant using sand and one tool’ task from series 8 of Taskmaster UK (i.e. the exact same air-blowing equipment, save for the leaf-blower-welly). However, it is different enough from both of these tasks that it is categorised as original here.
