Task brief

The brief for the task is as follows:

Blow an item the furthest on The Knappett.

If your item falls from The Knappett, you are disqualified.

The person who blows something the least far each round is eliminated, unless someone is disqualified.

You must all select your blowers and items for each round before any blowing commences, and you must not use the same blower or item twice.

Last player standing wins.

Task notes

  • The contestants are lined up on stage, each behind a table with a selection of spherical items (a beach ball, an air ball, a golf ball, a table tennis ball, and a pea) and things to blow them with (some bellows, a recorder, a whoopee cushion, and a straw).
  • Each contestant also has a whiteboard and marker to pre-select their spherical item and blowing item pairings.
  • Alex also says that a leaf blower is available to Sarah, if she wants it (a call-back to her joy at finding a leaf blower during the 'Get this feather into the bath' task, earlier in the episode).
  • The items have to be blown from the top of a plinth, in front of The Knappett.
  • Even though the task brief specifies that anyone whose item falls off The Knappett is disqualified, this appears to actually mean that they are just eliminated from the round.

Attempts

Here's a brief description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on writing up some additional detail, though!

  • Dara survived the first round, with his straw and pea combination. Although his beach ball remained on The Knappett after being blown with the bellows in the second round, it was revealed that the tip of the bellows had touched the beach ball, so he was retroactively also eliminated from that round. He therefore earned joint first place with everyone else but John.
  • Fern survived the first round, with her recorder and pea combination, despite it travelling the shortest distance, because John was eliminated after his table tennis ball fell off The Knappett. She was then eliminated in the second round, with her straw and table tennis ball combination, after the ball fell off The Knappett. However, after Dara's retroactive elimination, she earned joint first place with everyone else but John.
  • John was eliminated in the first round, with his straw and table tennis ball combination, when the ball fell off The Knappett. He therefore earned last place in the task.
  • Munya survived the first round, with his straw and pea combination. He was eliminated in the second round, with his bellows and beach ball combination, after the ball fell off The Knappett. However, after Dara's retroactive elimination, he earned joint first place with everyone else but John.
  • Sarah survived the first round, with her straw and pea combination. She was eliminated in the second round, with her bellows and beach ball combination, after the ball fell off The Knappett. Notes on task scores

  • Since it is determined that Dara's bellows made physical contact with his beach ball in the second round, and thus everyone but John was eliminated in the same round together, they all receive 5 points, while poor John receives just 1 for going out in the first round alone.
