Susan goes full YOLO
In the living room, Susan at no point attempts to label the switches, simply throwing the labels aside with a “what will be, will be”. She appears to spend her entire five minutes then just flipping switches at random.
In the lab, Susan starts the task in the UV light. Already “absolutely terrified”, she starts to place a few golf tees on the top shelf, balanced on their heads. However, once the platform starts vibrating, Susan begins laughing.
She tries to rally and place another tee on the shelf and, just as she tells Alex that she “can’t work under these conditions”, the overhead lights turn on, and a pile of leaves fall over the shelves, knocking down her previously-balanced tees.
As Susan starts over, she is plunged into complete darkness, before the UV lights come back on, the platform stops vibrating, and another pile of leaves fall over her shelves.
Around this point, Susan realises that if she had not touched any of the switches, she would likely have had the ideal conditions for the task. Alex asks Susan if she remembers what she’d done with the switches, and Susan remembers that she’d taken a break at some point. She takes the opportunity of this quiet period to balance as many tees on the top shelf as she can, as she remembers that she’d only refrained from touching the switches for about half a minute.
She manages to balance seven golf tees during this break, but the vibrations from the platform starting back up cause five of them to fall off.
Ultimately, Susan balances just two tees, but is subsequently disqualified anyway when it is revealed that she had flipped the ‘Danger’ switch.
