Tete the compulsive liar

As he arrives and sits to read the task brief, Tete muses that there is always a “strange atmosphere” whenever Olli is not present for the process.

After reading the task brief, he looks directly into the camera and asks, “Who is Mats?”, thus coining the episode title.

Before Tete’s attempt is shown, Atle reminds the viewers that the maximum legitimate score that can be earned in Yatzy is 374 points.

Tete decides to keep the scores for his game, and tells Mats that they will be playing the free (unforced) Yatzy variant.

As they play, Tete tells Mats that he is actually the Norwegian Yatzy champion. Mats asks Tete why he is wearing a shirt with football players on it, if he is the Yatzy champion. Tete responds by claiming that he is also a football champion, on the level of Martin Ødegaard, with whom he claims he played Yatzy, while they were teammates at Real Madrid.

Tete also plays dirty with the dice, at one point telling Mats that they should both look up in the air while Tete rolls a die. As Mats looks up, Tete quickly drops his die and turns it to a favourable result, before miming his roll, and then acting surprised.

It’s unclear from the edit of his attempt but, given his final score, Tete also seems to cheat against Mats by quickly justifying his rolls without giving Mats the opportunity to respond (“oh, but when I combine this with my roll from earlier, that means I get points”, etc).

At one point, as Mats leaves the room in search of snacks, Olli reminds Tete that all he had to do was win at Yatzy, not lie to a child as much as possible. Tete laughs and says that he couldn’t resist, as Mats had “set up smash after smash”. Olli replies that there were no ‘smashes’, and that Tete is just a compulsive liar.

Mats does not catch Tete cheating, and Tete wins their game with a score of 5,645-192, giving him a task score of 5,454 points, and winning him the task.
