Maria draws on her acting background
Maria chooses the red clogs. She starts out running in them at full speed, but then allows the shoes to fall off of her feet as she runs, and so has to double back to retrieve them.
After putting the shoes back on, she starts running again, but the shoes once again come off of her feet. She genuinely seems annoyed by this turn of events; of all five contestants, Maria is the one who does not seem like she is deliberately trying to lose the task (something that the other contestants compliment her on, in the studio).
She then carefully jogs towards the finish line, but collapses in ‘exhaustion’ just before crossing it, pretending to believe that she has completed the race.
It is only after she checks with David that he informs her that the clock is still running. Maria then slowly rolls her ‘exhausted’ self across the finish line.
Maria finishes the Babben-race in 37.1 seconds, and earns fourth place.
