Behrouz reinterprets a rule

Behrouz focuses on the part of the task brief which dictates that he cannot go into the house. The actual text reads “gå inte in i huset”, which can either be interpreted as “do not go into the house” or “do not walk into the house.” Behrouz chooses to use the latter interpretation.

Shoving the basketball under his shirt, in order to keep his hands free, Behrouz places both hands just inside the doorway of the house, and then places his feet against the walls in order to navigate his way through the house. Once he reaches the stairs, he shuffles up them on his butt, pulling himself up by his arms, and making sure that only his heels make contact with the floor. Once Behrouz reaches the balcony, he reasons that he is no longer ‘inside’ the house, so he stands up.

Behrouz then wraps the basketball in a length of cable (which he presumably carried up with him, in his pocket), so that he can retrieve the ball, should his throw miss. Unfortunately for Behrouz, he does not wrap the ball securely enough, as it slips out of the cable after his first throw misses.

When he asks David to bring the basketball back up to him, David replies that he doesn’t feel like it. Behrouz makes his way back through the house and retrieves the ball, before making his way back up to the balcony. This time, he rolls on the floor. instead of walking along the walls.

During his trip to retrieve the basketball, Behrouz also made an unaired detour to the shed, for a roll of duct tape, which he uses to firmly secure the ball in the cable.

After another failed shot, Behrouz is finally able to throw the ball into the hoop – where it promptly gets stuck, thanks to the cable and tape.

Babben approves of Behrouz’s interpretation of the task wording.

Behrouz scores in 12 minutes and 30 seconds, and earns third place.
