Steve’s calculator haiku

Steve brings in a large calculator, and Greg is immediately on board with where he’s going with it. When Steve asks Greg if he knows about “the number”, Greg responds with “8008”, which famously reads as “BOOB” when typed into a calculator which is then inverted. Steve corrects Greg that the actual special number is “5318008”, since when this is entered into an inverted calculator, it spells the word “BOOBIES”.

Steve notes that perhaps Greg might feel that simply turning up with the old classic of spelling out “BOOBIES” on a calculator might be “a little bit limited” (to which Greg immediately responds “wrong!”). Regardless, Steve goes on to share that he has in fact written an entire haiku using only words which can be spelled out on an upside-down calculator.

Steve’s entire haiku reads as follows:

BIg BOSS gOBBLES EggS
hIS hOLE OOZES ShIZZLE gOSh
BEIgE BLOBS SOIL hIS ShOES

If it were possible to type this all out with spaces and line breaks on a single calculator display, these are the numbers that would need to be typed:

53045 514 7105 58078 36138
4506 3722145 53200 3704 514
5663 5378806 5508 618

Steve’s calculator haiku leaves Greg absolutely astonished, and he ultimately awards Steve joint first place with Joanne, earning them both 5 points.
