Sophie has a shed panic

Alex’s interruption of Sophie during her reading of the final line of the task brief does not make the edit.

Sophie heads to the shed and ponders what an impressive load might be. She then returns to the doormat in front of the house wearing a life jacket and carrying a wheeled shopping bag in one hand, and a bundle of assorted other items under her other arm (including a large rubber duck, a plastic lacrosse stick, a tennis racket, an umbrella, and a fishing net). Alex arrives behind her, carrying a metal bucket full of balls and marbles.

As Sophie begins to load herself up with the items, she notes “a lot of this is just looking in that shed and sort of having a panic attack, isn’t it, really?”. She inserts items including the handle of the opened umbrella into the gaps between herself and the life jacket, stating “it’s all about utilising different structures, isn’t it, within your own body”.

Sophie then acquires a hoop skirt from somewhere and steps into that, before holding its edges up to create a dish around herself, into which Alex pours the contents of the bucket (which, unexpectedly, contains some water, in addition to the balls and marbles).

She hooks the wheeled shopping bag over her right arm, and drops the duck into the fishing net, which is somehow suspended on the left side of her body, before striking her final pose.

In the studio, Greg observes that both Sophie and Joanne “did what we call on this show a ‘shed panic’”. When Sophie admits that she looks deranged in the photo of her effort, Greg adds that “you look like you’ve done a lot of shouting in a high street”. John then adds that Sophie looks like “she’s turned up to beach party that everyone has desperately tried to stop her finding out about”.

Alex reveals that Sophie’s load had weighed 13.2kg, and Greg ultimately awards her 2 points.
