Linda forgets about gravity
A decent amount of the footage of Linda’s attempt is dedicated to showing how long it had taken her to even understand the task brief, which she read multiple times, and then kept referring back to, to answer her questions (such as wondering if she is allowed to touch the pole). This footage is intercut with footage of her calling the task “weird”.
Eventually, having decided that the amount of time she has spent not doing anything is all Mark’s fault, Linda decides to pull the cup down to her level, and then goes to the shed in search of something long while she sends Mark off to fetch some liquid (she suggests milk).
Linda uses a long stick to pull down the pole and, with Mark’s assistance, then tapes an entire carton of milk upside-down on top of the cup. In an uncharacteristically considerate moment, Linda then gives Mark a countdown to back away from what she assumes will be a spray of milk, as the pole springs back into position.
However, Linda has not taken the weight of the milk carton into account and, when she releases it, the pole just bends further down until the milk carton touches the grass. She attempts to fling the still-attached milk carton up into the air, to encourage the pole to stay upright, but the carton’s momentum just means that it flips over the top and the pole bends in the opposite direction, landing in the grass again on the other side of the red green.
Linda then holds her stick against the pole, and instructs Mark to duct-tape the two items together, before using her stick to hold pole upright, causing the cup to finally overflow with milk. She then immediately drops her stick, which lands on the red green (however, by this point, Lasse has already ruled in the studio that items touching the red green after completion of the task do not count, so Linda is not disqualified).
Linda leaves the scene, telling Mark to remember to drink his milk.
In the studio, Mark reveals that – once started – Linda had actually completed the task in only 2 minutes and 41 seconds, but that she had unfortunately spent the prior 7 minutes and 29 seconds just trying to understand the brief. Linda therefore completes the task in 10 minutes and 10 seconds, and earns third place.
