Episode synopsis

The New Year's Treat special for 2025 actually aired on the 29th of December 2024, featuring contestants David James, Hannah Fry, Martin Lewis, Melanie Blatt, and Sue Johnston.

Filming of the live studio segments took place on the 28th of November 2024.

In this festive special, the contestants must bring in the source of the greatest pride, put some gloves back into a briefcase, do something they regret, transfer water from a bucket to a bottle using the contents of a bin, and draw the contents of a box.

Martin Lewis informs Alex Horne that he had registered “412 steps” on his fitness tracker, at the end of his attempt at the ‘Transfer water from a bucket to a bottle using the contents of a bin’ task.

Hello everybody! Welcome! Ask any comedian who the funniest person they’ve ever met is, and they will universally tell you it’s a friend from home, an old colleague, a member of the family. This universal response is, of course, a blatant attempt at appearing humble, and is clearly a lie. My own uncle’s attempt at making us laugh - his elephant impression - saw him face multiple charges in a court of law, for example. Now... does that mean we shouldn’t invite non-comedians on Taskmaster? No, I say! We bring them on, and we refocus - from ‘laugh with’ to ‘laugh at’! The New Year’s Treat is upon us. The lambs are nearly table-ready.

Assistant Intro

And sitting next to me, another non-comedian who whispered to me at our Christmas party that his New Year’s resolutions were to lose weight, to spend more time with the kids, and to play a significant role in crushing any country’s attempt to leave the Commonwealth. It’s... little Alex Horne!
