Woodrow High House
Woodrow High House, located in Amersham, Buckinghamshire, is owned by the London Youth organisation.
The house dates from the 17th century, and is said to have housed the Cromwell family during the English civil war.
The house was used as an ammunition depot during World War I, and was used to house evacuated children from Portsmouth during World War II.
London Youth has owned and operated Woodrow High House since 1945, when it was gifted to the organisation (then known as Federation of Boys Clubs) by the Worshipful Goldsmiths Guild. The mission of the charity is to ensure that children and young people have opportunities to grow in confidence, develop leadership skills, build resilience, and create positive relationships with their peers.
The 26-acre facility has evolved into a 120-bed residential centre for visiting schools and youth groups all year round, as well as providing a purpose-built leisure centre with a swimming pool which is hired by local adult community groups and used by Woodrow Swim School.
Facilities include a large campsite area, multi-purpose sports hall, a floodlit astro-turf pitch, and off-road mountain bike circuit.
Taskmaster connection
Woodrow High House and its grounds were used as a location for filming tasks during series 7 of Taskmaster UK.
First appearance
The location was first seen during the 'Build the tallest cardboard box tower' task, in the first episode of series 7.
