Season synopsis

Season 7 of Kongen Befaler began airing on 26 January 2023.

Recording of the live studio segments took place at Drammen's Theatre between the 21st and 30th of January 2023.

The cast for the season are the presenter Leo Ajkic, the actor and comedian Vidar Magnussen, the comedian Hani Hussein, the actor Karin Klouman, and the comedian and presenter Lars Berrum.

Former season 1 contestant Bård Ylvisåker occupies the throne in this season, after Atle Antonsen stepped down after being reported for racial abuse.

Olli Wermskog continues to serve in the Taskmaster's assistant role.

Notes

  • On 28 October 2022, a Kampajne.com article revealed that a seventh season of Kongen Befaler had been commissioned. The cast was not revealed.
  • Tickets to attend the live studio filming sessions at Drammen's Theatre between the 21st and 30th January 2023 went on sale in early November 2022, and the page where they were being sold disclosed that the cast for the season would be revealed in December 2022.
  • On 15 November 2022, it was reported that Atle Antonsen had been accused of racially abusing a young black author and social commentator in an Oslo bar, and was under investigation over the incident by the police.
  • On 19 November 2022, it was announced that Atle would be stepping down from his role on the show for the planned seventh season, and also that the scheduled Christmas special would not be airing.
  • On 15 December 2022, it was announced that Bård Ylvisåker (a former contestant) would be taking over as the Taskmaster for the season, with Olli continuing in his role as the assistant. It was also revealed that the contestants for the season would be presenter Leo Ajkic, actor and comedian Vidar Magnussen, comedian Hani Hussein, actor Karin Klouman, and comedian and presenter Lars Berrum.
  • On 13 January 2023, contestant Vidar Magnussen shared a teaser trailer for the season on his Instagram, revealing that the season was due to start airing on 26 January 2023 (while the studio filming was still very much underway).
  • The title sequence for this season shows Bård Ylvisåker typing out the task brief to season 5's 'Mash the right grape' task on his old Apple Macintosh computer.
