Attempts
Here's a description of the contestants' attempts. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to add later!
- Jonas says that he knows nothing remarkable to teach Esther, but that he can teach her something useful. He teaches Esther how to portion sauces for freezing – to pour leftover meat sauces into several small plastic bags instead of one large one. Esther proves that she is able to pour sauce into a bag (albeit messily) and freeze it. When Jonas is mocked for his attempt in the studio, he points out that it would be a remarkable thing if someone made meat sauce and their young niece reminded that person to remember to freeze the leftovers in small portions. Jonas earns second place.
- Linda decides to teach Esther how to be a pop star, by writing new lyrics to the classic children’s song Se Min Kjole (‘Look At My Dress’), and provides backing music for Esther by playing the song on an acoustic guitar. The translated lyrics for the song Esther sings are as follows: “See Mark Le Fêvre, he’s as ugly as a stork. / Everything I look at is ugly about him. / It’s because his pate is so shiny, / And because he is so piss-whiny.” Lasse is not a huge fan of the song’s new lyrics, but acknowledges that Esther learned them, and awards Linda third place.
- Simon, desperate for ideas, looks around the room and notices the bar. He decides to teach Esther how to chug a drink. He and Esther make large cocktails. Simon chugs his drink; Esther refuses, so Simon chugs hers as well. In the studio, Lasse is shocked that in a room full of adults, the only person who thought Simon’s idea was bad was an eight-year-old girl. He also points out that what Simon did may very well have been illegal. Simon earns last place.
- Tobias takes Esther for a walk outside, and attempts to convey the message to be herself, illustrating his speech with a creek they come across during their walk. He tells her that there will always be people attempting to change who she is, but as long as she follows her “inner flow,” and notices when something feels right or wrong, she will always turn out alright. Esther does not really understand Tobias, and he admits that he is only just starting to understand it himself. Lasse admires Tobias' ambition, saying that he is trying to do the same thing with his older daughters, but points out that Esther is eight years old. The other contestants point out that some viewers may learn something from Tobias' speech. Tobias earns fourth place.
- Sofie teaches Esther a new language. Specifically, she teaches Esther how to speak Rovarspraket (‘robber language’, a code language in which every consonant is doubled, and an ‘O’ is added in between the now-doubled consonants). To prove that she has learned how to speak Rovarspraket, Esther holds a press conference at the Stormester house (with Sofie acting as sign language interpreter), where she delivers the message, “Dear Lasse. I hope Sofie wins Stormester.” Sofie wins the task.
