Joonas the civil servant

Joonas seems to have just cut the shape of a handlebar moustache out of some black construction paper.

Rather than using any sort of adhesive to stick it to his face, he opts to hold it against his mouth instead, attempting to cover this up by adopting a pensive pose (i.e. putting his finger to his lips in thought).

When Jaakko questions why Joonas had just held something beneath his nose, Joonas says that when officials are thinking, they adopt the same pose he had, as they navigate “the twists and turns of bureaucracy”.

Jaakko questions whether Joonas would like to be called “Hercule Nordman” going forward (referencing the fictional detective Hercule Poirot, who famously sports an iconic handlebar moustache).

Jaakko later dubs Joonas a civil servant, unintentionally beginning a series-long running joke about him.

Jaakko awards Joonas’ “minimal” effort fourth place.
