Johanna loses the plot

Johanna runs to the shed in search of something to help her, and appears to return with just a kayak paddle, which she entrusts to Pilvi’s care.

Johanna is next seen removing her shoes, and asking Pilvi if she is allowed to get wet while retrieving the ball, in the case of a missed throw. At this point, the ball is floating in the water next to the kayak, so she appears to be referring to an actual failed attempt. Pilvi does not answer her question, so Johanna jogs into the water to retrieve the ball before it floats further away.

Returning to the shore with the ball, Johanna attempts to throw it into the kayak again, and once again misses. As she wades back into the water to retrieve the ball again, she sidetracks to Pilvi to retrieve the kayak paddle, presumably to give her more reach and to keep her from having to wade deeper into the water.

As she brings the ball back back to shore again, Johanna muses over the wording of the task brief, then exclaims that she’s had a “lightbulb”, and will instead bring the kayak to the shore. She accomplishes this by simply wading out to the kayak and pulling it out of the water, blissfully unaware that she is breaking the rules, despite having just re-read them.

Once the kayak has been pulled ashore, Johanna simply places the exercise ball inside of it. She then bows, apparently proud of her accomplishment.

In the studio, Johanna admits that she’d thought that since she had to retrieve the ball after she missed each throw, that the task would just “start over”. Jaakko points out that Johanna had reminded herself that she was not allowed to get wet while standing waist-deep in water.

Johanna ‘completes’ the task in 7 minutes and 14 seconds. Despite breaking the rules, Jaakko takes pity on Johanna for having endured the cold water, and so he awards her last place instead of disqualifying her.
