Joonas swears up a storm

Joonas retrieves a paddle, a pole, and a rake from the shed, and brings them back to the dock. As he slowly tapes all of these items together, he tells Pilvi that he has turned into a “tinkerer and craftsman” (presumably referencing his time on the show).

Joonas uses his construction to hook the rope at the front of the kayak and carefully pull it much closer to the dock, eventually grabbing it and pulling it out of the water. However, as he does so, he loses his grip, and the kayak begins to float away. Before it can get any further, Joonas attempts to toss the ball into the kayak, but it bounces out.

Joonas starts swearing and, for a moment, all that can be heard is Joonas’ censored swearing, and Pilvi’s sardonic observation to the camera that Joonas has indeed become a “nice and easy-going craftsman”.

Joonas continues swearing throughout his attempt, as he retrieves the ball and misses his second throw, then subsequently fails to nudge the ball into the kayak with his construction. He fishes the ball out of the water again and gives it to Pilvi for safekeeping.

Joonas then hooks the rake end of his construction into the kayak itself, and carefully pulls it towards him. This time, instead of attempting to take the kayak completely out of the water, he uses the rake to hold it in place, and then drops the ball into the cockpit. Despite the short distance, the ball again bounces out, prompting another round of swearing from Joonas.

After another attempt, the ball mercifully remains inside the kayak when Joonas drops it in. Still frustrated, Joonas then kicks the innocent construction which had done so much to assist him.

In the studio, Jaakko asks Joonas if he wants to discuss his apparent lack of self-control. Joonas replies that “even a civil servant’s onion peels at some point”. Joonas then admits that he had actually been happy during the task, as he knew he had tended to be quite uptight during his attempts, and was initially glad that his plan seemed to be going smoothly, but then everything had quickly fallen apart.

Joonas completes the task in 10 minutes and 11 seconds, and earns third place.

Jaakko informs Joonas that normally, he would dock points from a contestant’s score for swearing as much as Joonas had, but in this case had found Joonas’ frustrated swearing so entertaining, that he instead awards Joonas a bonus point.
