Joonas imagines a series of changes
Joonas immediately points out Pilvi’s “fancy yellow glasses”.
He then stands and walks to the corner of the room, in order to take in as much of it as possible at once, before asking Pilvi whether the patterned rug had been rotated [which was actually one of the more subtle changes in the original version of this task ].
Jonas walks around an unfurnished area of the room, musing that it “feels empty”, and wastes time wondering if something used to be there.
He then looks around and wonders out loud if the wallpaper has been changed, before looking at the portraits on the wall, but quickly writing them off as being unchanged.
Ultimately, Joonas believes that the curtains and lamps have been changed, that there was a briefcase on the chair that is no longer there, that the books on a nearby shelf have been rearranged, that the rug has been rotated, and that Pilvi is wearing different glasses. Only one of these is actually correct.
In the studio, Joonas explains that his fixation on the rug had actually come from noticing that the table seemed different, and that he therefore believed it had been rotated because he had spotted some kind of difference in the table’s size, in proportion to the rug.
Joonas correctly spots only one difference (Pilvi’s glasses), so he earns last place.
