Ellu’s irritating biking shorts
Ellu brings in a pair of biking shorts, which are actually referred to by a slang term used in the cycling community, ‘vaippashortsit’ (‘diaper shorts’).
Jaakko presses Ellu for more information, and while she never actually explains why the shorts are called diaper shorts (presumably due to the padding), she explains that they represent an entire experience that irritates her neighbours, which begins when she puts the shorts on.
Once she puts the shorts on, she sets up her stationary bike in her living room, then turns on music to exercise to, and cycles for several hours, during which time the noise of the shorts sliding against the bike seat sometimes makes strange noises.
Ellu admits that all of that may not be horrendously irritating for her neighbours, but she then reveals that she also sings loudly to the music while exercising, and is the first to admit – via a demonstration, asking for extra points – that she does not have the best singing voice.
Jaakko awards Ellu joint second place.
