Joonas endangers Pilvi

After reading the task brief, Joonas retrieves a step-ladder, muttering the task wording to himself about one foot needing to remain on the ground at all times. It’s never overtly stated but, based on his tone, he seems to be thinking along the same wordplay lines as Niko had, possibly considering that one of the ladder’s legs could count as his foot remaining on the ground.

Joonas abandons whatever clever rationale he’d been thinking of, and instead asks Pilvi for assistance. Hesitantly, Pilvi replies that she is technically allowed to help him, since it is not explicitly forbidden by the task brief. Joonas then instructs Pilvi to climb the ladder and bend the pole over as much as she can. He voices his belief that any eggs she may break while doing so would not count against him, as he would not be the one causing them to break.

Joonas then seems to identify that the pole is not formed from a single length of tube, so he concocts a plan whereby Pilvi can detach the topmost section of the pole and then carry it back down the step-ladder for him. As he instructs her on how exactly to position her hands on the pole to realise his plan, Pilvi comments that the entire endeavour will “end badly”.

Pilvi does manage to detach the top section of the pole, along with the plate of eggs, and everything seems to be going well until she gets it about halfway down the ladder. She then loses her grip, and the entire plate of eggs tips over, sending all of the eggs crashing to the ground.

Joonas attempts to catch some of the eggs, but does not succeed. However, several of them land on dense enough grass that they do not crack on impact. Joonas gathers his intact eggs into one of the cartons, and suggests that they make an omelette for the crew with all of the broken eggs on the ground.

For retrieving five intact eggs, Joonas earns joint first place.
