Joonas the narcissist
Joonas chooses the coat of arms for Inari.
He searches the shed for materials, soon emerging with a rolled-up length of black carpet, which he uses to create the fish on his coat of arms. He mounts the rolled carpet on the work-bench outside the shed, propping it up on either side with short lengths of tubing (and, later, with a suitcase) in an attempt to bend it to shape.
Claiming to have always been “one of those handicrafts people”, Joonas cuts out a large (and misshapen) eyeball, and sticks it to the side of the carpet roll with masking tape. He jokingly voices his belief that the municipality of Inari will somehow recognise him in some sort of official capacity for this service he is providing.
Joonas also makes the decision to add a rake head (and, later, some sort of stool) to the front of his fish, which actually just results in it looking more like a snake (it’s possible that these items are meant to be the front prongs of the fish’s antlers, but perspective does not work in his favour). He also adds two tennis rackets to the top of the carpet, as part of as the fish’s antlers.
Joonas seems to have attempted to replicate the black background of his coat of arms by slipping a tarp underneath the fish, but then given up halfway, as the tarp is left awkwardly beneath just the front half of his creation.
For some reason, Joonas remains in the background for the photo of his recreation. He comments on this in the studio, calling himself an “unbelievable narcissist”.
Jaakko awards Joonas fourth place.
