Pirjo keeps a few names on her shelf

When it comes to Pirjo’s turn, she makes sure to voice her concern that, as the contestant furthest removed in time from the initial introductions, her brain is “getting emptier by the second”. This is something she later asks Jaakko to keep under consideration when it is time for him to award the scores.

Pirjo is first instructed to name audience member 4, and she correctly identifies him as Kaarlo.

She is then instructed to recall audience member 1’s name. She can’t remember, and says that she knows it’s not his name, but that she’ll guess ‘Arttu’ (it’s actually Ville). Sweetly, after the task is over, Pirjo asks the man to reintroduce himself, and promises that she’ll remember his name for a long time afterwards.

Finally, Pirjo is instructed to name audience member 10. She immediately (and correctly) names Karoliina, without even looking at the woman. Jaakko comments that Pirjo must have had Karoliina’s name “on the shelf” (a Finnish idiom, meaning ‘ready to go’), and Pirjo admits that she had prioritised memorising a few number and name combinations that she could easily recall, and that Karoliina had been one of them (Pirjo definitely makes some grumbling noises, during the other contestants’ attempts at the task, presumably whenever one of them is assigned one of her ‘on the shelf’ names).

Jaakko ultimately awards 1 point per name correctly guessed, so Pirjo earns joint second place, with 2 points.
