Lloyd runs away from the eggs
Lloyd decides to throw the eggs up straight up into the air and then run away, assuming that the distance measured will be how far away he is from the eggs as they hit the ground.
To ensure that the lid of the carton doesn’t shut and provide protection for the eggs, he rips it off. He then throws the remaining part of the carton with the eggs still in it directly upwards as high as he can, before running off across the lawn.
In the studio, Tom Cashman points out that the task brief had stated ‘Break the dozen eggs from the furthest distance’, which he argues means measuring the distance from where the contestant had caused the eggs to break, not from where they were at the moment the breakage occurred. Tom therefore believes that Lloyd’s distance should be the distance between where he was standing when he threw the eggs, and where they landed – just 32cm.
Josh Thomas argues in Lloyd’s defence that, since Josh had been credited for the height from which he’d dropped something on his eggs, Lloyd should get credit for the distance from where his hands were when he threw the eggs, as opposed to from his feet.
Tom Gleeson agrees with Josh’s argument and adds 2 metres to Lloyd’s distance, giving him a final measurement of 2.32 metres, which earns him 3 points.
