Dr Jenny solves a medical mystery

Jenny has to apply to become a doctor.

During her preparation, she thinks about what doctors have to do, which involves attending medical school (where they usually let loose), and then completing the UMAT test, which Tom Cashman informs her tests comprehension, empathy, and logic.

Jenny begins her video application by completing her UMAT exam, starting with the comprehension stage. Tom places a big pencil on the table in the caravan, and asks Jenny to ‘comprehend’ what it is, which she does successfully. He then does the same thing with a banana, which she also successfully ‘comprehends’.

The test then moves on to the empathy stage, wherein Tom asks Jenny to work out what he’s feeling. He then pretends to start crying, and Jenny correctly identifies that he is “extremely sad”.

Finally, for the logic stage of the exam, Tom gives Jenny the sequence of “square, square, ???” and Jenny correctly(?) answers with “rhombus”. Having successfully completed her UMAT exam, Tom claims that it was the best UMAT exam ever seen.

Jenny’s video then cuts to showing her completing her medical experience. This begins with Tom in the lab, playing the role of the top doctor of a top hospital, and struggling to diagnose a patient (played by a mannequin under a blanket on a table). Jenny then enters the lab wearing gloves and overalls, claiming that she can solve the medical mystery, based on what she’d seen during her years of partying at medical school (shown in a brief flashback, featuring her and Tom jumping around by a barbecue grill next to the caravan).

Calling on all of her training, Jenny ‘comprehends’ that there is a body on the table, and then pulls something out from under the blanket (knocking the mannequin’s head off in the process) which she ‘comprehends’ is a rhombus. Tom reacts to this miracle diagnosis by stating that Jenny’s made the best diagnosis that he’s ever seen.

Tom Gleeson awards Jenny 3 points because she’d knocked the mannequin’s head off.
