Babatunde phones a friend
As Babatunde enters the lab and spots the old-fashioned optometry chair, he stops in his tracks and asks what it is.
Having read the task brief, he starts fiddling with the lens-holding device attached to the chair, and asks Alex whether it is the special glasses.
Babatunde then leaves the lab and heads down the hallway in search of the special glasses. He searches inside the clown’s head-shaped lucky dip bin in the hallway, before finding the second eye chart nearer the main entrance. He then turns around and spots the cheese dish on the table, and takes the lid off. When he discovers another task brief within, he reacts by saying “Oh, for goodness sake. I don’t want to open any more.”
Having opened the task brief, he admits that he doesn’t know how to speak French. Sitting in the optometry chair, he attempts to read the French text from the task brief, but does so very phonetically, before admitting “We’re screwed, bro”.
Babatunde then calls the British Congolese comedian Eddie Kadi, noting that he knows that he speaks French. He asks Eddie to translate the French text for him, but initially attempts to read it out to him on the phone, completely mangling the pronunciation, and prompting Eddie to insist that he just send him a photo instead.
Once the photo has been sent, Eddie tells him to “look at the inside of the base”. If there is further discussion in which Eddie shares that it could also mean ‘pedestal’, this is not shown, but Babatunde heads back to the lab and immediately investigates the plinth there, discovering the removable top and the ‘special glasses’ within.
Babatunde’s glasses are pink and have a flower hanging from one side.
In the studio, Alex reveals that Babatunde had put on his special glasses after 13 minutes and 20 seconds, which earns him 2 points.
