Hayley triggers Paul’s bullshit allergy

Hayley enters the lab and observes “What a strange collection of goods.”

She begins her attempt by looking inside Paul’s manila folder, quickly identifying that it contains photos of people called Anna. When Paul says that they are his, Hayley just looks at him and says “Yeah”.

After looking at the other objects and describing the thermometer as “a temperature”, she wonders out loud if the objects represent the story of man, from the big bang (represented by the thermometer) to the creation of earth (the plate of soil), the evolution of life (the plant) and then mankind itself (Paul’s folder full of women), and then mankind sating its hunger (the fork and chocolate bar).

Hayley is about to explain how the next item fits into her theory when Paul sneezes. After saying “Bless you”, she asks if he’s allergic to the plant, and he quickly responds with “I’m allergic to your bullshit.” Hayley is taken aback by Paul’s response, for which he immediately apologises.

Hayley keeps swapping around the order of the objects before just piling them all on top of one another, prompting Paul to point out that it’s hard to tell what the order is now.

She subsequently rearranges the items again, without explaining her actions and then, with just 1 minute and 7 seconds remaining, picks up and eats the chocolate. When Paul asks her if she’d previously put the chocolate in the dirt, she looks down and solemnly confirms that she had, but carries on eating it nonetheless.

In the studio, Jeremy firstly addresses Paul’s rudeness toward Hayley. Paul apologises again for his outburst, but goes on to say that he knew as soon as she’d agreed to appear on the show that he was going to have allergy flare-ups, adding “Because I am legit allergic to her bullshit.”

Hayley admits that she was still completely bamboozled by the task and, after watching Tom and Abby’s successful attempts, she states that she feels really dumb. After watching Tofiga’s attempt, Hayley joins Matt and Ben in arguing that the task should be stricken from the records.

Hayley does not complete the task, and so earns no points.
