Hayley gives Paul his marching orders

Hayley decides to teach Paul a marching routine, which is one of her actual skills. She also eats a surprising amount of the apple, considering that she says early on that she’s a little bit allergic to them. This prompts Paul to share that he also has some allergies, and when Hayley asks what they are, Paul states (for the second time in this episode) “I’m allergic to your bullshit”.

We see a bit of Hayley trying to teach Paul one of the moves, which involves lifting a leg and then stepping back down with your legs further apart. She does the move and gets Paul to copy it, while she is looking down at his feet to see how he does, and Paul copies her exactly, also looking down, which Hayley points out isn’t what you should do. Even after this explanation, Paul keeps looking down, because he says it feels more respectful because he’s “bowing to the troops”.

The pair head out to the back of the house and perform the marching routine together, with Hayley giving a lot of verbal cues and counting for Paul.

The routine begins with the move that we saw Hayley teaching Paul earlier, and Paul still keeps his head down during this, so Hayley quickly tells him “head up”, and he looks up. They then complete the same move in reverse, putting their legs back together, before doing a quick march forwards for four steps, then turning left and marching four more steps. They then repeat this sequence of marching twice until they’ve walked in a full square. Finally, they turn left again and do a slower march for four more steps, then salute for a count of three. Hayley then compliments Paul for a really good first attempt.

She earns 2 points for her marching lesson.
