Elias makes a sandy volcano

Elias does not spend much of his planning time in the lab, Instead, he takes a walk around the property, hoping to get inspiration from the nature surrounding him.
The rest of the clips shown of his planning process are worrying, as he is seen questioning whether heating up paint with a lighter might be dangerous (before deciding that it probably isn’t), and asking Pilvi if he is allowed to set a fire anywhere he wishes on the property.
Thankfully for everyone involved, Elias chooses to make his volcano on a stretch of beach next to the lake adjoining the house. He digs up some of the sand and shapes it into a volcano shape, and covers the top with red paint, to make it look like it has just erupted.
Elias hits a minor stumbling point when he is unable to get the paint to catch fire. He sources several cigarettes from somewhere and lights them all – enlisting a reluctant Pilvi’s help to do so – and sticks the cigarettes filter-first into the top of his volcano to provide smoke.
In the studio, Elias is particularly proud of his volcano, calling it “the best work of art I’ve ever made”, and even praising the beach and water backdrop in his final photograph.
Jaakko awards Elias joint second place.
