Abby is a victim of her own hubris

Abby sits and writes down all of the letters as Paul relays his instructions over the radio.

Having heard the part of the instructions about making a paper aeroplane, she goes ahead and does so, noting that she’s not very good at it.

As Paul begins to spell out the word ‘FASTEST’, she heads to the balcony, scrunches up her plane, and puts it in the bin.

When Paul then asks her, via the radio, whether she thinks anyone will beat her, she says she wouldn’t think so, pointing out that she knew what the message was before he’d even finished.

It is revealed that Abby had completed the task in 6 minutes and 57 seconds.

After Tom, Hayley, and Tofiga’s attempts are shown, Abby realises that if she’d listened to the end of the message, she would have discovered that it was a task where the fastest contestant loses.

As the fastest contestant, Abby earns just 1 point.
