Task briefs
The initial task brief is laid on the desk in the study. The subsequent instructions are read out over the radio by Paul, one letter at a time, using the NATO phonetic alphabet. The briefs for the task are as follows:
Follow Paul’s instructions.
You may tell him to stop or ask him to start again.
Read out by Paul over the radio, one letter at a time, using the NATO phonetic alphabet:
Construct a paper plane and take it to the balcony.
Scrunch it up and throw it in the bin.
Fastest loses.

Task notes
- Also on the desk, there is a two-way radio set, through which the contestants can communicate with Paul.
- Paul is seated in the caravan with his own radio handset.
- The NATO phonetic alphabet, is the most widely used set of clear-code words for communicating the letters of the Roman alphabet.
- There is a red wheelie bin on the balcony of the house for the contestants to throw their scrunched-up paper aeroplanes into.
