Mehdi heats his knife blade

Mehdi initially comes out of the shed carrying a blunt trowel.

He then thinks better of this, and runs into the house, returning with a craft knife and a gas stove lighter.

Inside the shed, he heats the blade of the knife with the lighter.

Then, for some reason carrying a wooden hand-shaker percussion instrument in his free hand, he quickly stabs all of the balloons with the hot knife, completing the task in just 15 seconds, and earning first place.
