Jimmy tries to paint with an oar

Jimmy starts squirting blue paint at the canvas from the balcony, and initially completely misses it.

He then starts squirting the paint further, and manages to land some on the canvas, but with no discernible design.

Seeking more control over where he is painting, Jimmy fetches a damaged oar and some rope, which he ties together to try to create some kind of extendible brush. This strategy is totally ineffective, though, as the oar does not make a very good or controllable brush, especially when the canvas is so far away from the balcony.

He does succeed in dragging the paint-soaked oar across the canvas, creating a few lines, but it doesn't really help him accurately render the country in any way. He eventually concedes that throwing paint at the canvas was probably more effective.

However, he tries a new technique of squeezing black paint onto the paint palette in the rough shape of Australia, and then dropping that on the canvas, to transfer the shape. Of course, it lands paint side up.

In the studio, Tom Gleeson challenges Jimmy to point out how his painting depicts Australia, and then suggests that maybe its some kind of Magic Eye image that depicts Jimmy's regret. He awards Jimmy third place.
