Mae's mirror-based existential crisis
Here's a description of the contestant's attempt. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to illustrate it.
Mae brings in a small mirror, which they claim can cause a "deep existential crisis". Describing the experience of staring into a mirror at oneself, they pose the question "What are we? Are we the meat? Are we the viewer?". They share that an experiment carried out in 2010 found that 66% of people who stared into a mirror for 10 minutes experienced seeing "huge deformations" in their own faces. Greg shares that he had tried that himself, and had the same experience, but points out that it only happens if you look at the reflective surface of the mirror, not when you stare at the other side. He argues, therefore, that Mae's object itself isn't the thing that makes you feel weird, but rather it's the image of your own face. He ultimately awards them joint last place, along with Jenny.
