Solveig misunderstands the task

Here's a description of the contestant's attempt. Someone's probably working on collecting some images to illustrate it.

Solveig misunderstands the task, and thinks she needs to put something through the interior of the inner tube, via its valve, rather than just passing something through the ring that it forms. She comes up with what she thinks is a much smarter solution, by first cutting across the inner tube, to create a straight tube, and then cutting it along its length, so that it can be spread out flat on the ground. She reason that by doing this, the whole interior surface of the inner tube is exposed and accessible, so anything that passes over it is also technically passing through it. She attaches a table and a barrel to a garden roller, and rolls this assembly of items over the flattened tube. Despite her lateral thinking, she earns last place.
