Vegard’s headline is desperation

Vegard is holding his head in his hands before his attempt is even shown on screen.

He begins by telling the mayor that he isn’t very into politics, and then, like Calle, tries to break out some classic tricks from his I kveld med Ylvis days, such as trying to flip up onto his feet, from on his back (which he partially succeeds in doing, on the second attempt).

He then sits down at the piano, to try to play the most impressive piece of music he knows, which turns out to be a somewhat recognisable rendition of Wedding Day at Troldhaugen by Edvard Grieg.

At one point, a staff member takes a peek inside the room from the hall outside, then notices the cameras, and pops out of frame with a startled look.

Vegard plays with an intense, relatively desperate look on his face, and finishes off by saying that while he couldn’t remember the ending or the parts in the middle, at least it was something.

He then goes back into his vault of old tricks, and performs pig impressions for the mayor: firstly, as a happy, snorting pig; and then as a pig squealing on the way to the slaughterhouse.

Vegard’s final ‘trick’ is to yodel into the top of the piano.

He wanders out of the hall, stating that he hopes that the mayor had enjoyed it more than he had.

In the studio, he is sweaty and embarrassed, much to the entertainment of his brother.

Atle comments that there was a pretty large gap in quality, compared to the level of entertainment Vegard usually produces.

The mayor apparently agrees that his was the least impressive offering, and so awards Vegard one point.
